The Doctor adjusted the crystal readout on the TARDIS and cast a weary eye on the readout, ever since the encounter with his other self, he had decided that
he would be more pro-active about the upkeep of the crystal emitters on the TARDIS. "No need to see the back of my own head again." He muttered to
himself.
"Hm? Oh, nothing..." Something seemed to Stop the Doctor, a purple glimmer, it couldn't have been, purple? No, purple wouldn't make sense, it couldn't make sense, there could be no purple!"How about we visit Fuup' Swek'? Bird people, bit dumb, but gorgeous beaches! Three suns all set to dim! Planet-wide UV filter and, well, they think Ginge is sexy."
"Oi! I said no taking the piss! Mouse boy from Mars!" Donna shot at him. The Doctor smiled, she was too easy! Easier than the Rani, it actually made him shudder to think of Donna as the Rani, or was it just thinking of the Rani? He hadn't thought about her in a while, but more and more, she was coming to his thoughts, as if he was missing something, he thought about her in their younger days, their reckless youth, filled with Wild Passion and mad science, they'd almost destroyed worlds and came away laughing, almost in hysterics, they had began near pandemics on 39 worlds, including one on a planet in what they had known as System 13590324-b-fi-S, the primitive particle life had been wiped out and with the combined strength of their two tardis', it had been easy to send it careening into its next door neighbor. The Doctor sat rapt by the memory of that day, he and the Rani had watched as the planet had fused out of the calamity they had created, the planet that was, one day, destined to be Earth was born. Susan's mother came after. Susan. Not for the first time, the doctor discreetly wiped a hidden tear from his eye, humanoid form had its annoyances.
"So where is this Fop Swik?" Donna was snooping about, trying to find something or the other as if the TARDIS were her kitchen instead of an event in space/time. Nothing like the present, the adventure of the moment.
"Fuup' Swek is a few thousand light years from here and they calculate time a little differently. It's going to take a second more to input the data into the TARDIS."
One moment, the data showed on the screen as it should, an ordinary time-tested procedure that proceeded like one and so his link with the TARDIS told him, the next, they were being tossed about the bridge of the TARDIS, the entire bridge was shaking and swaying wildly. The Doctor grabbed a hold of the control tower in the center of the Bridge, a habit born of over 800 years of inhabiting his wildly maneuvering TARDIS around the universe. Donna, however, found herself on the far wall of the bridge, face pressed against the coral skin of the ship. After briefly making sure Donna was okay, He turned his full attention to the TARDIS, the link told him the TARDIS was in chaos, the readouts weren't making any sense, then he saw the light. Purple, undeniable, definite purple. Time stretched in that undefinable way it does for Time Lords, the purple light was blinking. The Tardis pulled into the Time Vortex.
That was the trouble began.
