Caught the other James May prog about space, which was more about the training involved in his 'Moon mission'. He's a very engaging presenter, so
hopefully will be doing more BBC stuff in the future.
Hammond himself was on GMTV this morning to plug the return of Total Wipeout. |

Presumably Hammond sleeping wasn't funny enough... otherwise he must have been wrecked by the time they got to Orkney.
Not quite sure the Army challenge worked (come on, it was hardly a road test, was it?!), but as a cunning advert, fair dos (ditto for the Royal Mail). |

I felt her antics seemed a bit too obviously scripted (even the dizziest dumb belle wouldn't go to quite that many lengths... I hope), but it was still

Rather a downbeat ending to tonight's show (and the series). "It feels like something is ending." While they also pretty much confirmed the next series (November, giving 'The Stig' time to replace Massa in F1 before he needs to be back testing cars) could it be that things are set to change for the team? Has it been confirmed if Hammond is off to pastures new, as has been rumoured? Time will tell, I guess. "And on that bombshell..." |

Funnily enough, despite being ignorant of any such rumours, I did wonder myself whether this year or next, Jeremy might be pushing off. Or as you say, one of
the others. It wouldn't be as much of a surprise now. They are getting into a bit of a rut, vis-a-vis the challenges, and conventional road tests
for new cars. Or possibly, with BBC budget cuts, austerity might kill off the fun.
But I thought it was an excellent end to the series, reasserting that whilst challenges are fun, and guests can be entertaining, driving great cars really is what it's all about. |
